“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,” (Colossians 3:23)
Saturday evening we went to my in – laws for a birthday dinner for my youngest brother-in-law. On our way home, Superhero Son was so excited about seeing Christmas lights on the houses as we drove through neighborhoods. He knew we would pass this one house that goes all out each year. They create a one – house light show unlike any other around.
As we drove home, his sleepiness overtook the excitement of the lights. Just before we got to the glowing house, he fell asleep. He missed it.
Does this happen in our Christian faith? Do we have hopes and dreams that we miss because we fall asleep? Are we walking through life, doing our jobs, as is we are doing everything for God?
When we lose our focus on God, we fall asleep on our faith. When this happens, we risk missing out on fantastic rewards. God’s plan requires an assertive effort on our part. It may be working hard to get the laundry folded or answering the call to serve on a missions trip.
As we move through December, we take time to reflect upon our year. Think about moments when focusing on God and His plan payed off in your life.
